These should be the things we're gonna do unless they can't be carried out. Like say, if dragon boat course can't be held on a wednesday then we'll do something else.

The PSA building PT right, maybe we'll go climb nearby HDB flats instead cos the management still hasn't given us a definite reply. You guys have any suggestions?

Event I/Cs take note: Latest submission of proposal is the Sunday night before the activity. Try to submit ASAP though.

At the end of route 3.

Well done people! We completed all 3 routes + 2 sidetrack routes (i.e. imba slope, muddy-like-mad trail) and even did amazing feats (i.e. filling holey plastic bags with water)!

EXCELLENT!!! :D

-.-

Anyway, just to summarise some of the things that happened today..

Lessons learnt:
  1. Must bring consent form for official ODAC activities
  2. When out for expeditions, wiping/cleaning your bags is useless cos the bags will just get dirtier later
  3. Pulau Ubin residents actually keep wild boars as pets
  4. In foresty places, avoid staying put cos the mosquitoes will swarm to you
  5. When travelling over rocky grounds, lifting your butt off the seat will minimise the impact of the rocky bumps (lol)
  6. It is not advisable to attempt bike drift

You guys can add in more "lessons learnt" on the tagboard (:

P.S. Remember to submit your reflections on today's activity to the teachers by 20/03/09 2359hrs. The teachers' email adds are:

Mr Tan: tan_teck_tong_john@moe.edu.sg
Mr Oh: oh_chee_wee@moe.edu.sg
Mr Imran: muhammad_imran@moe.edu.sg
Miss Lee: lee_wan_ling@moe.edu.sg

Pulau Ubin! :D

The terrain at Pulau Ubin is expected to be tougher than that of East Coast Park, duh. So this trip will put our cycling skills to test and of course, bring us closer to nature! :D Most importantly, it is to prepare participants of NYEC Envirolympics Cyclethon for the event.

Members will be split into 2 groups (randomised), each group having 2 facilitators and 1 teacher tagging along with them. Teams will be given a map of Pulau Ubin and pictures of landmarks along routes that they are supposed to travel. Upon reaching the end of a route, teams are required to complete task(s)*before heading back.

We will probably leave Pulau Ubin at around 1630hrs.

Things to bring:
  • Each person will have to pay $2.50 for per bumboat trip to Pulau Ubin (meaning each member will need to pay $5.00 in total for to and fro trips)
  • Rental of bike is $5/day
  • Lunch (bring snacks along)
  • Water bottle (COMPULSORY)
  • Poncho (COMPULSORY)
  • Hat (optional)
  • Towel (optional)
  • Change of clothes (optional)
  • Sun block
  • Plasters
  • Personal medication (if any)
  • Trackpants (optional, but I highly recommend it if you don't wanna become food for mosquitoes-.- I've had enough of mosquitoes during today's recce)

WATERPROOF YOUR BELONGINGS!

P.S. This is an OFFICIAL ODAC event. A medical certificate must be produced if you fail to attend. Otherwise, you'll be marked as AWOL and have to do CWO! Hooray! :D

Dairy farm trip and hike
Date of trip: 16.03.09 (Monday)
Time: The entire day! 7.30am-6pm

Basically, we'll be going to Dairy farm in the morning. Afterwards we'll go on a mysterious hike (the teachers seem to wanna give us a surprise). This trip requires a certain level of stamina. Don't ask us where we're going, cos nobody knows.

Nevertheless, we'll need everyone to be prepared for the day. The attire will be:
  • A T-shirt with track pants (for rope courses). The minimum you can wear are 3 quarters. Please go buy a pair of track pants if you don't have one. It'll definitely come in handy in future.
  • Shoes and socks. No slippers or sandals allowed. It is advisable that you bring shoes which can be sacrificed i.e. a pair which you can throw away after the activity. The shoes you wear must have gripping power.
  • Long sleeves can be worn, if you want to.

Items to bring:
  • Change of clothing (you'll be very dirty)
  • Insect repellent (optional)
  • Slippers/sandals (to be worn after the hike)
  • Plastic bags (to contain your dirty clothes)
  • Poncho/water-resistant jackets (in case of rain)
  • Lunch money
  • 1.5 litre fully-filled water bottle (COMPULSORY)

Remember to waterproof all your belongings! Try to put everything in ziploc bags.

Look forward to the trip (:

National Youth EnvirOlympics Challenge (NYEC)

Date of Event: 10 April 2009
Time: 8pm to 8am

NYEC Enviro-Cyclethon 2009 is a 70km bike hike around Singapore, starting at East Coast Park and ending at VIVOCITY. Participants will cycle overnight from 9pm and they will reach VIVOCITY at 8am in the morning approximately, just in time before the opening ceremony of the National Youth EnvirOlympics Challenge. Participants will be cycling in groups of 8, with each group having 2 group leaders who will be familiar with the routes.

The groupings will be as follows:

Team HOLY!
1. Chin Hui (leader)
2. Sheila (leader)
3. Chiou Yih
4. Janice
5. Mei Jie
6. Yi Ling
7. Ying Ying
8. Yong Chang

Team Yozza

1. Guofeng (leader)
2. Yanni (leader)
3. Clarine
4. Clivia
5. Iris
6. Jiaxu
7. Pamela
8. Sinyee

Okay la, I know the team names abit funny, but we didn't have enough time to come up with linguistically beautiful ones so we'll just stick to these. Anyway, the participants list is confirmed, no one is to back out unless you have a medical condition that deems you unfit to attend.

Any queries, please contact Shuyun. She's our I/C for this event.

Another thing, for the next CCA session (11.03.09), we'll be having PT in the gym.
